Background
Three hundred years ago, there was a revolution in the heavens. The God King and his armies were toppled by Taishakuten. This change in power led to a reign of terror in which even the innocent were not safe from the God King's wrath, and entire tribes were destroyed if they displeased him.

The story of Rg Veda begins when Yasha-ou, king of the Yasha tribe and rumoured to be the strongest of the guardian gods, receives orders to kill the stargazer Kuyou. He disobeys his orders, instead hearing Kuyou's final prophecy and seeking out on his own the first of the "Six Stars" who hold the power to end Taishakuten's reign of terror -- the infant Ashura, who had lain dormant in the woods since the days of the war. Though he is warned of the dangers he faces by taking Ashura in, though Kuyou, the entire Yasha tribe, and others die because of his decision, he is determined to protect hir.

In the aftermath of the destruction of the Yasha tribe, they make a promise: "I'll never leave your side if you don't leave mine." Together, they walk a path fraught with danger and loss, always relying on each other, living for one another's sakes as they seek out the rest of the Six Stars and go to challenge the tyrant. Things are complicated by the Dark Ashura, and history comes to light in strange and unexpected ways; in the end, all that keeps Tenkai from complete destruction is the bond between Yasha and Ashura. Sie nearly dies in a desperate effort to save him, and though Yasha is told there is little hope of hir ever waking again, he remains steadfast at hir side as time wears on, awaiting the day when sie will open hir eyes and return to him.

Yasha has a great deal of guilt over the massacre of his people, understandably, but he's never once blamed Ashura for any of it. He goes out of his way to make sure that Ashura doesn't blame hirself for any of the deaths that happen where they pass, and is more likely to shoulder the blame himself to protect Ashura from it. His entire world revolves around Ashura and the promise he made to hir, and he will do anything to prevent hir getting hurt in any way.

Relationships
First things first, Yasha is pretty damn anti-social. Don't expect much here.

Ashura
Yasha is devoted to Ashura. Completely and utterly. His entire life revolves around hir, protecting hir, caring for hir, just being with hir. If you do anything that might hurt hir, be it physically, mentally or emotionally, he will try to kill you. Conversely, if you prove to care about hir, he will tolerate you, and perhaps even come to like you. Recently Yasha used a wish to keep hir permanently in hir adult form.

Melone
When he first arrived in Sieben, Yasha noticed Melone only as someone who cared about Ashura almost as much as he did himself. Over time, despite the fact that they've never met in person, he's come to start liking Melone for his own merit.

Mireille
To be perfectly honest, Yasha only notices her as a friend of Ashura's, and as a room mate.

Matsuri
Again, Yasha only notices him as one of Ashura's friends, and as a room mate.

Hard Gay
They may only have met in the war, but Hard gay tried to save Ashura, and has Yasha's gratitude for that.
